About Me

June Lordi graduated from the Downeast School of Massage in Waldoboro, Maine in 1981. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and has served on both state and national boards and committees such as the Education and Testing Committee, the Legislation Committee,  New England Conference Planning Representative, and the AMTA Sports Massage Education Council and National Sports Massage Team.   June has had an active massage therapy practice for 40 years, focusing on pain management, injury rehabilitation, postural dysfunction, pregnancy and infant massage, geriatric massage and athletic performance massage. She currently holds a massage therapy license in Maine.

Prior to her training in massage therapy, June studied Tai Chi Chuan, an ancient Chinese exercise and martial art. The Tai Chi movements became naturally incorporated into her daily activities and, thus, into her massage therapy work.  She began teaching massage therapists Tai Chi principles to help them with efficiency and fluidity of movement, body mechanics and breathing techniques in order to bring more effectiveness and less strain in their work. June has taught at several schools and organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada and produced a manual and DVD called Tai Chi Massage : A Body Mechanics Course for Massage Therapists, which introduces these ancient Eastern concepts to therapists and demonstrates how to adapt the principles to their massage work at the therapy table, warding off injury, stress and allowing for greater health and creativity.
